Qatar could see more than half its economy paralyzed - The Gulf crisis is bigger than most people realize The Strait of Hormuz crisis is disrupting oil and gas exports, manufacturing, aviation, tourism and essential imports across the Gulf. Qatar is among the most exposed economies, while Saudi Arabia and the UAE have greater protection through alternative pipelines and ports. Yet enormous sovereign wealth funds and central-bank reserves mean several Gulf states could withstand years of lost export revenue before facing a true financial collapse.
